Welcome to this, our 31st Baldock Festival.
Having recently taken over as Chairman I’d first of all like to thank the outgoing Chairman Bob Eversden for both his hard work (which continues!) and for sharing his knowledge of the organisational aspects of the festival, which is invaluable.
We as a committee, face a number of challenges which need to be met if the festival is to continue to be as hugely successful as it’s been for 30+ years.
Firstly we must strive to ensure a range of events that, where possible, reach out to all parts of the community and all age groups…. for example, event for teenages is work in progress!
Secondly, we must actively encourage new people to join or contribute to the workings of the committee, including producing new ideas and …
Lastly, we must full embrace social media and the role it plays in getting our message out there about the festival and its events.
That said, as well as popular events we have run for some years, we are pleased to have some new ones this year including a ‘Back to School’ Disco, Storytelling, Creative Writing Taster Session, Gardner’s Question Time, Artisan Cheese Tasting, Indian Street Food, Mexican Food, new talks and much more. So, if you’ve not attended an event before maybe these will interest you!
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the clubs, businesses, organisations and volunteers for their contributions and and of course the people of the town who attend the events and make our festival successful
