Historical Walk to Clothall Church @ Meet at the corner of Limekiln Lane & South Road
May 4 @ 1:45 pm

Meet at the corner of Limkiln Lane & South Road. 1:45pm for a 2:00pm start

The walk will follow the ancient Maltman’s Way, pointing out the historical landscape and touching on farming and the wool trade.

It will finish in Clothall Church with its medieval ‘bird window’ and inscriptions.
The walk is about 3½ miles and includes some steep ground and stiles; there is no shelter along the route.

Not suitable for small children, buggies or dogs.

Allow 2½ – 3 hours.

All proceeds will be donated to Clothall Church Restoration Appeal.

This walk also takes place on Sunday 12 May at 2.15pm.

Evening Burn around the Greenway @ Meeting Point: The Orange Tree, Norton Road, Baldock
May 9 @ 7:00 pm

Ability level: Beginners welcome.

Baldock MTB will provide guided tours of the Greenway showing cyclists new to the route a number of exciting areas just off the beaten track to test your riding skills.

Starting at the Orange Tree, Norton Road, Baldock at 19:00 riders will be guided around the Greenway being given opportunities to explore some interesting alternative routes, picking up tips and tricks from experienced mountain bikers.

Riders will finish back at the Orange Tree between 20:00 and 21:30 (dependent upon experience) having covered approx. 15 miles.

This event is suitable for all riders aged 13 and over (Children under 16 years must be supervised by a cycling adult).

All riders must wear cycling helmets and are responsible for providing their own cycles in good working order.

Depending on finish times and detours taken lights may be required towards the end of the ride (and to get home after being refreshed).

Advanced Mountain Bike Training @ Meeting point: The Orange Tree, Norton Road, Baldock

Ability Level: A fair level of fitness, those looking to improve their off-road ability and learn some routes.

Baldock MTB will provide a guided ride, tuition and tips and tricks to both improve your skills and your confidence when mountain biking.

Leaving the Orange Tree at 09:00, riders will be guided around local cycling routes, off the beaten track, being given opportunities to explore some interesting off-road routes, and to pick up tips and tricks from experienced mountain bikers.

The distance covered during the session will be approx. 20-25 miles. Riders will finish back at the Orange Tree between 12 and 1pm (dependent upon experience and speed).

This event is suitable for riders aged 13 and over (Children under 16 years must be supervised by a cycling adult and capable of the distance).

All riders are must wear cycling helmets and are responsible for providing their own cycles in good working order.

Operation Clean Weston Hills! @ Weston Hills, Meet Woodland Way entrance, SG7 6LR

Join Friends of Baldock Green Spaces to help your local green space be a great place for wildlife and walks. Path clearance, litter picking and more!

Fine Beer Tasting with The Garden City Brewery @ Coach from Baldock High Street, SG7 6AX

Coach from Baldock Community Centre at 18:45 sharp

Have you ever wondered how a Microbrewery works? If the answer is `Yes`, then join us on a visit to the Garden City Brewery in Letchworth.

You will meet the Head Brewer, be shown around the brewery and then sample 6 fine ales, complete with tasting notes.

Tours around the brewery will be in small groups, with the bar area available for relaxing.

The coach will return by 9:30pm or you can make your own way home on the train!

This trip is strictly for over-18s only, with a maximum of 40 places.

Baldock Street Fair @ Baldock High Street, SG7 6AX

Baldock Street Fair is one of the must attend days in the Calendar, with stalls and free shows down the high street and around town.

Baldock High Street

Fifty colourful craft and local charity stalls will line the High Street, along with the following highlights in the performance area:-

‘Tricky Micky’ is back again with five 30-minute performances which will include a Punch and Judy show, Magic Show and Ronnie Rabbit Puppet.

The Medieval Combat Society will be setting up camp in the High Street to entertain and to teach about the history of 14th century England in the time of King Edward III.There will be combat and dance displays during the day but do visit their encampment find out more information about their weapons, armour and lifestyle.

Fairground rides as James Harris will again be bringing his fairground rides to delight the children.

School Choirs will perform during the day.

Maypole Dancing from Hartsfield School.

Zumba Display in the arena.

Morris Dancing at various places around the High Street and pubs.

St. Marys Church Baldock – Tower Trips @ St. Marys Church, Hitchin Street, SG7 5AE

Weather permitting. Sensible footwear essential.

A chance to see Baldock from a different viewpoint! Refreshments available at the back of church.

Children must be over eight years of age and if under 16 years, must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Open Gardens @ Around Baldock, SG7 6AX
May 19 @ 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Another opportunity to look around and enjoy some of Baldock’s hidden gardens, large and small.
Details of the gardens open and a map will be provided when you buy your ticket. A mini-bus will operate to and from Templars to gardens on a requested basis.

Refreshments will be served in the courtyard at Templars between 2.00pm and 4.00pm when you can also listen to the Bygrave Handbell Ringers.

All proceeds from this event will go to the charitable causes that Rotary is supporting throughout the year. This event is organised by Baldock Rotary Club.
