Champagne Afternoon Tea @ United Reformed Church, Whitehorse Street, SG7 6QQ

Baldock and Clothall WI are providing a traditional homemade Champagne Afternoon Tea. Please ensure you arrive by 2pm, you will then have your table until 4pm. This gives you plenty of time to chat and enjoy your tea.

You will be served tea or coffee, plus a glass of champagne, followed by sandwiches with a variety of fillings, including vegetarian, freshly baked scones with jam and clotted cream plus a selection of cakes.
We are unable to cater for specialist diets.

Join us for a Carvery style Sunday Lunch, dessert, cheese and biscuits. Price also includes a glass of Prosecco or fruit juice.

The bar will be open and there will be 2 sittings, service start times: 12.30 to 1pm or 1.30 to 2pm.

Classique Sing Music from the Movies and 1976 @ Methodist Church, Whitehorse Street, SG7 6QB

An afternoon of songs from movies and 1976.

Classique are a singing group who are all from Baldock who sing at the local care homes,  for other groups in the town, including the W.I, The Senior Club, The Royal British Legion and many more.  If you would like more information about us you can contact the Secretary  J.Middleton on 01462 640010.

Gregynog Ensemble @ United Reformed Church, Whitehorse Street, SG7 6QQ

The Gregynog Ensemble (Rob Hughes, Lesley Pearce, Robert Puzey, Austen Scully and Alison Eales) will present a programme of relaxing music featuring clarinet, solo cello and string quartet. Guest Player, Austen, from Sandy, Bedfordshire, will perform Bach’s Cello Suite No 6 which will be a great treat.

This will be followed by Clarinet Quintets by hymn writer Sir Arthur Somervell and English composer Sir Arthur Bliss. Both pieces include some beautiful melodies. Refreshments will be served in the interval.

Street Names Past and Present @ Meet outside Baldock Community Centre, Simpson Drive, SG7 6DH

Jane Havercroft will take you on a stroll around the streets of Baldock to discover the origins of Baldock’s street names including those names no longer in use.

It is accessible to most mobility scooters; possibly too much traffic for small children and dogs.

This walk also takes place on May 9 and 12: please see details for times.

Tickets must be purchased before the event as numbers are limited.

Bring your cakes down to Baldock Community Centre at 10am, judging will take place at 12 noon.

Do you make tea-time temptations?

You are invited to take part in the Festival’s cake-making competition!

Sponsored by Days of Ashwell and judged by their own Paul Hollywood, Bakery Manager of Days Clive Draper.

There are two ages of entrants: adult and child up to the age of 13. Each age group has three categories for judging:

    • Cakes that are large or small, decorated or plain
    • Scones
    • Biscuits

You can either take your entry home after judging or leave them to be sold in aid of the Mini-Bus Appeal.

Registration forms can be obtained from Baldock Community Centre up to midday on May 10th.

Book Fair in Aid of Garden House Hospice @ Baldock Community Centre, Simpson Drive, SG7 6DH

Every year. thousands of pre-loved books are donated to this wonderful event.

Our annual Book Fair regularly raises about £700 for Garden House Hospice, so come and pick up some bargains and if you like, donate your own spare books too.

Come and join us for our monthly coffee morning where we will be serving tea, coffee and cakes. If you do not fancy any refreshments, just pop in to browse our bric-a-brac table. All welcome.

The kooky bunch from Mad Science will be doing two exciting shows full of crazy science tricks. After the show, you will have the chance to get hands-on and perform your own science experiments making slime and creating rainbow crystals in test tubes to take home.

Tickets limited to 30 for each show. Not suitable for under 5s, or anyone afraid of loud noises and slime!

Children between the ages of 5 and 11 must be accompanied by a paying Adult.

Christian Aid Coffee Morning and ‘Bring and Buy’ Sale @ Methodist Church, Whitehorse Street, SG7 6QB

Come to a coffee morning for Christian Aid week. If the weather is kind, this will be in the beautiful Church garden where you can sit and watch the world go by, drinking tea or coffee and eating home-made cake. Please come and join us. All welcome.

Baldock Community Orchestra @ United Reformed Church, Whitehorse Street, SG7 6QQ

Baldock Community Orchestra presents, Festival Favourites! Bizet to Beatles, Sousa to Skyfall.

The BCO was formed just over three and a half years ago.

The brainchild of two local professional musicians Catherine Wilmer and Rachel Thomas. Rachel is the current Musical Director.

The BCO ethos is to promote a wide repertoire of music to as many people as possible. It provides a unique opportunity for young people and anyone wishing to return to playing to play in an Orchestra again. The players come from Baldock and the surrounding area.

Since its formation the Orchestra has been based in Baldock.It rehearses Thursday nights (term time) Please see Facebook for more details.

During its short existence the Orchestra has performed in several Baldock locations, The Heritage centre, Orange Tree pub, St John’s School and tonight’s venue the URC church.

It has supported several Baldock events, playing at the Beer Festival and Christmas Fair. Other concerts have been given in Hinxworth, Letchworth. Christmas time a small ensemble from the Orchestra played at two local residential homes.

Small Hall – The Animal Experience (a small licensed zoo) will be attending with a wide variety of exotic animals, many of which are unwanted pets and rescue animals. Expect to see and meet their marvellous meekats; snakes including a python and milkshake, lizards including a bearded dragon, blue tongue skink and mini beasts.  The animal keepers will be on hand to answer your questions and offer you the opportunity to touch or hold many of their animals.

Large Hall – Refreshments, tea and coffee will be available in the coffee bar from 9.00am to 5.00pm. You will also be able to buy jacket potatoes, ploughman’s lunches at lunchtime from Tracey’s Kitchen. The bar will also be open.

Large Hall – Baldock Country Markets a huge range of home-made savouries, pastries, jams and preserves, along with gifts and other wonderfully crafted items for you to buy.
