Join us for an hour of running, jumping, climbing, crawling, swinging, balancing and getting thoroughly wet & muddy around our outdoor obstacle arena. This year’s 11th Baldock Independent Beer Festival will bring live music on Friday evening, all day Saturday and until close at 8.00pm on Sunday. We will have 90 local and national real ales, 40 ciders and a large selection of Continental draught beers and lagers. You will also find a wide range of hot, cold, vegetarian and barbecued food, plenty of sweets, soft drinks, ice cream and free activities including some fun games and challenges to entertain the children during the day. Sunday Lunch @ Baldock Community Centre

Join us for a Carvery style Sunday Lunch, dessert, cheese and biscuits. Price also includes a glass of Prosecco or fruit juice. The bar will be open.

There will be 2 sittings, service start times: 12.30 to 1pm or 1.30 to 2pm.

An illustrated talk by Nastya Kovaliova with tastings, and craft activities suitable for all the family.

The Motor Trade in Baldock 1910-1950 @ Baldock Museum, Old Town Hall, Hitchin Street entrance

A well-illustrated display about garages, cars and the open road in the heyday of motoring. Visitors will also have the opportunity to look through albums of old photographs of Baldock.

 

The Historic Back Lanes of Baldock @ Meet outside Community Centre, Simpson Drive, 2.15pm for 2.30 start

Jane Havercroft will take you on a 2 hour, 1.5 mile stroll around the back lanes and footpaths in the town centre to discover their history. All on tarmac so accessible to most mobility scooters; possibly too much traffic for small children and dogs. This popular walk was sold out last year so it has been decided to repeat it to give those who missed it a chance to take part this year.

The event is for the ROYAL BRITISH LEGION Poppy appeal. It will be a ticket event only, tickets to be bought in advance.  Last day to buy tickets is Friday 4th May.
Come and join us for an afternoon of 60’s songs.
Classique are a singing group who are all from Baldock who sing at the local care homes,  for other groups in the town, including the W.I, The Senior Club, The Royal British Legion and many more.  If you would like more information about us you can contact the Secretary  J.Middleton on 07948377089.

BALDOCK IRISH FESTIVAL
Sunday … Beer fest (3 to 5 pm ) and Templars ( 8 to … ) Bank Holiday Monday Baldock High Street, SG7 6AX. 12.30-9.00pm

This year sees the 9th holding of the Baldock Fleadh (or Irish Festival) now a fixture on many a trad musicians calendar It will start at the tale end of the BALDOCK BEER FESTIVAL in the beer tent with a drink up session between 3/5 pm on Sunday afternoon The welcome session follows  at 8.00pm at Templars in the high street  ( special rates for musicians staying that night )

Monday. The Fleadh (festival) day will start at noon with musicians
gathering at The Boot for vouchers , and continuing at The Cock, The Boot
and The White Lion  ( and maybe Templars if numbers allow ) all
afternoon. There will be Irish Dancing from 4 pm up and down the venues …

Gregynog Ensemble @ United Reformed Church, Whitehorse Street, SG7 6QQ

The programme will include the Clarinet Quintet by the renowned film composer Richard Rodney Bennett (who died in 2017) and a cheerful Classical Style Quartet by Crusell. There will also be music by Schubert. Players: Rob Hughes and Lesley Pearce violins, Heather Birt viola, Lucinda Wright cello and Alison Eales clarinet.

Refreshments will be served in the interval.

Joyrider at the Hen and Chickens @ The Hen and Chickens, South Rd, SG7 6BZ

Formed by Ray & Ian, former members of Maxwell, Hammer & Smith and joined by the fantastic vocals and exceptional keyboard skills of miss Lily Norman, the rhythm section is completed with the bass playing from Mark Stier. The band cover songs from the sixties right up to date. As with the MHS band, Joyrider have 3 vocalists: 2 male and 1 female and specialize in tight 3 part and 4 part harmony which gives the band a big full sound –

Have a leisurely drive around the local countryside and search for the answers to the clues. Return to the Catholic Church car park where bacon butties will be available and find out who will win the cash prize.

Bowls Club Open Day @ Avenue Park, West Avenue, SG7 5AY

Come along and try your hand at bowls. There will be people from the club on hand to give you coaching. You are asked to wear flat shoes to protect the greens. Tea and biscuits will be available in the pavilion afterwards and the bar will be open.

Historical Walk to Clothall Church @ Meet at the corner of Limekiln Lane & South Road
May 7 @ 2:15 pm

Meet at the corner of Limekiln Lane & South Road at 2.15pm for a 2.30 pm start.

The walk will follow the ancient Maltman’s Way, pointing out the historical landscape and touching on farming and the wool trade. It will finish in Clothall Church with its medieval ‘bird window’ and inscriptions. The walk will be about 3½  miles and is not suitable for small children, buggies or dogs.
