Baldock and Clothall WI are providing a traditional homemade Champagne Afternoon Tea.
Tea will be served in the United Reformed Church, Whitehorse Street at 2pm. We would ask you to arrive at 2pm. You will then have your table for 2 hours until 4pm. This gives you plenty of time to chat and enjoy your tea.
You will be served tea or coffee, plus a glass of champagne. Your afternoon tea will consist of sandwiches with a variety of fillings, including vegetarian, freshly baked scones with jam and clotted cream plus a selection of cakes. We are unable to cater for specialist diets.
The Gregynog Ensemble (Rob Hughes, Lesley Pearce, Robert Puzey, Austen Scully and Alison Eales) will present a programme of relaxing music featuring clarinet, solo cello and string quartet. Guest Player, Austen, from Sandy, Bedfordshire, will perform Bach’s Cello Suite No 6 which will be a great treat. This will be followed by Clarinet Quintets by hymn writer Sir Arthur Somervell and English composer Sir Arthur Bliss. Both pieces include some beautiful melodies. Refreshments will be served in the interval.
Come along and try your hand at bowls. There will be people from the club on hand to give you coaching. You are asked to wear flat shoes to protect the greens. Tea and biscuits will be available in the pavilion afterwards and the bar will be open.
