Fifty craft and local charity stalls (with many stallholders in costume!). Experience the sights and smells of historic England! The busy street fair scene!
Highlights Throughout the day:
‘Tricky Micky’ will be giving five 30-minute performances which will include a Punch and Judy show, Magic Show and Ronnie Rabbit Puppet.
Wryngwyrm The Vikings are coming! ‘Wryngwyrm are a group of re-enactors who portray life in the Dark Ages as accurately as possible. They will present a living history display and you are encouraged to talk with craftsmen and women and the warriors to learn more about the crafts and way of life during those ‘Dark Ages’.
Victorian magician. Our Victorian magician will do three 45-minute walkabouts performing amazing close-up magic tricks. Look out for him in his distinctive clothing. He will also be doing two workshops for children at 11am and 2.00pm in the Small Hall in the Community Centre. Tickets 50p available from Baldock Community Centre.
- Balloon Man who will wander around making fantastic creations out of balloons.
Fairground rides. James Harris will again be bringing his fairground rides to delight the children.
School Choirs from Hartsfield JMI School and St Mary’s Junior School will perform during the day..
During the day judges will be visiting all the stalls to choose the one they think has most entered into the spirit of the day by dressing up to represent a period of Baldock’s past, and awarding a cash prize. If you feel like dressing up in historical costume to join in the fun, that would be splendid.
Morris Day of Dance
The White Lion, Market Place. From 10.30am
Hosted by Baldock Midnight Morris, this Day of Dance will take place outside The White Lion and at other venues around the town. These traditional Morris sides from all over the east of England will bring music, dance, fun and colour to add to the fantastic atmosphere of the Street Fair.
Events in the Community Centre

Our Victorian Magician, who will be doing a ‘walkabout’ on the market place during the day, will also give two workshops for children in the Small Hall at the Community Centre at 11.00am and 2.00pm. Tickets: 50p available from Baldock Community Centre. Booking advised, but if there are any spaces left, ticket will be available on the day.
The Baldock Society will display old photos of Baldock in the Community Centre as part of the Street Fair. Come and find out more about the Society and what they have achieved for Baldock over the past year.
The lace makers will be on hand to show you their work and how to do it.
You will also be able to buy jacket potatoes, ploughman’s lunches etc at lunchtime in the large hall. The bar will also be open.
Tea and coffee will be available in the coffee bar from 9.00am – 5.00pm.
Museum Exhibition – Baldock’s Turnpike
This display in Baldock Museum will focus on Baldock and the Great North Road in the coaching age..

Admission FREE today. Usual admission charge is 25p, accompanied children free.
St Mary’s Church Events
Church Tower Trips
St Mary’s Church, Hitchin Street. 11.00am – 4.00pm, weather permitting
Children must be over eight years of age and, if under 16 years, must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Sensible footwear must be worn. All proceeds to the Tower Restoration Fund. The main area of the church will also be open for free for people to look round.
Tickets available on day from St. Mary’s Church: £4.00 adult, £1 child
St Mary’s Church Hall, (Behind the Church in the Churchyard). 11.00am – 3.30pm
The craft stalls within the Church Hall have proved popular over recent years and this year the craft stalls will be returning to the Church Hall. In addition, the St. Mary’s Church Shop will also be open selling a number of goods including Knitted Crafts, St. Mary’s Church Aprons, T-Towels and Mugs. Free Entry
St Mary’s Church Coffee Bar
St Mary’s Church Hall, (Behind the Church in the Churchyard). 10.00am – 4.00pm
The St Mary’s Church Coffee Bar has been going strong for over 30 years, serving Baldock with a selection of Coffee and Cakes every Wednesday and Saturday from 10am to 12.00pm. As part of the Street Fair Day the Coffee Bar will have extended opening to 4.30pm and will serve filter coffee, homemade cakes, light meals and children’s drinks throughout the day.
