Festival Scarecrow Competition @ Baldock Town and surrounds
Apr 29 – May 14 all-day

New for this year, the Festival Scarecrow Competition should ensure some fun sights around the town and surrounding area with great prizes for both the best adult and best child entry.

Your Scarecrow needs to be in view from the road, either on the front of your property or rear if that is better from the road, or through a window.

To enter, you must collect a form from Baldock Community Centre – cost of two pounds per entry and return it with a photograph of your Scarecrow(s) by Friday the 13th of May (or before). Judging will take place during the following week, with the Festival Committee picking the top five in each category. The winner will be chosen by public vote on Street Fair day on Saturday 14th May, from a display of all your photographs on the Festival Committee Stand.

Leaving home and/or heading to university? Join Martin, the Chef/owner of The Arbury, for a fun, informative and interactive demonstration to help show the next generation of young people leaving home, a few simple and basic dishes that are nutritious, tasty and of great value. Whether you are a novice or like to dabble a little, come along for a 2-hour demonstration. All recipes will be provided and the attendees can ask as many questions as they like.

For many young adults about to embark on the journey of leaving home can be quite a daunting one. Not just the act of leaving your family for the first time but having to deal with all the things that your parents did for you, washing, cleaning and of course the cooking. For many, the thought of cooking can be really, really scary and that’s where Martin can help.
With a fun, informative and interactive session, Martin can help show the next generation of young people a few simple and basic dishes that are not only nutritious but tasty and far better value than buying from the takeaway, as you will have to watch your pennies after all!
You need a healthy mind to achieve good results. Good food helps create a healthy mind. Not only will you feel better, study better but let’s be honest it is hugely satisfying doing something for yourself, especially if it’s for the first time and cooking is a great skill to master.
Whether you are a complete novice or like to dabble with the pots and pans, come join Martin for a 2-hour demonstration to help you on your journey to eating well, preparing you for the exciting journey ahead and helping you eat your way to a wonderful education.
All recipes will be provided and the attendees can ask as many questions as they like. This demonstration is for students about to go to university/college only!
